NC's feltbattery (the recording alias of Benjamin Trueblood) returns with a new album that touches on themes of colony collapse disorder, quilting, animals as synthesizers, and other assorted oddities. In seeking a finished work that would benefit from hive-like construction methods, Trueblood devised a collaborative method that would utilize the talents of fellow musicians. The final album is constructed from field recordings of bees, locust, frogs, and other social creatures which were subsequently processed and sent to collaborators to alter and respond to, which Trueblood then stitched back together into the finished album.
A truly monolithic work spanning 21 tracks, 71 minutes, and five years of effort, Behold A Golden Throng is a transfixing and transformative work; wholly unlike anything that came before it.
